This tour is tailored for families with children to get the most out of their visit to both our medieval Old Town and the beautiful city outskirts.
This tour is designed to entertain and educate your young explorers with fun filled facts and fascinating stories and legends about Old Tallinn and the surrounding area. Tour activity options and a flexible schedule to suit your preferences make for an experience that both kids and parents will enjoy.
Your guide will take you on a journey from cruise port to the medieval fairy-tale land with winding cobble-stone streets, red tile roofs and ancient towers. Our first stop on Toompea hill offers a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding lower city which unfolds like a picture book before your eyes. As you stroll along the maze of cobblestone streets, see and hear stories about the amazing buildings and towers that have been standing here for several hundred years.
A special treat for the smallest family members is a visit to the Marzipan museum, where you can model and paint your own marzipan figurine to take home as a souvenir – OR – try your hand at shooting a bow and arrow just like they did in the old days. A bit of free time in the Old Town will allow you to grab a bite to eat and perhaps do some shopping.
The tour continues with a drive to the Kadriorg quarter where idyllic wooden houses are intermingled with stunning baroque architecture. A walk in the surrounding park reveals Kadriorg Palace, the summer home of Czar, Peter the Great, the uniquely designed KUMU Art Museum and our Presidential Palace. We will then drive to see the huge acoustic bandshell where every 5 years, Estonian choirs from all over the world gather and continue the tradition of holding massive song festivals. Our final stop before returning to the cruise harbour is the Pirita seaside area, home to the 1980 Olympic sailing events and the famous Pirita beach where many of the locals enjoy swimming in the summer.
Reviews of our tours
Our family was on an 11 night Disney cruise visiting 8 countries. We were interested in doing a Marzipan workshop while in Tallinn, but the tours through the cruise line were booked. I found Estonian Experience and decided to book the tour through them. I was a little concerned because I had only booked tours through the cruise line in the past and I didn’t know what to expect.
We couldn’t have been happier with our experience. Triin was the best guide we could have asked for. She was so personable and informative. Spending the day with her made all of us grow to love Estonia. We had eight people in our group with ages spanning 5 years old to over 70. Somehow Triin was able to entertain all of us and make this tour the favorite of our entire trip.
Thank you Triin and Estonian Experience for such a great day!
Thank you once again for such a nice tour of your beautiful city, it felt as if we were being shown the Old Town by a friend.
Thank you for the three wonderful tours that you arranged for our groups in Tallinn, Stockholm and Helsinki!
Our guide Triin was really wonderful and worked with us and our very tired children. Thanks again! We loved Estonia and only wished we could have spent more time there.
Our guide was Dimitri. His knowledge of history was absolutely superior on many levels: political, cultural as well as military. We considered him to be the best guide we have ever had in our private tour experiences!
Eva-Maria did a wonderful job customizing 4 unique private tours for our group of nine including 3 kids (ages 11,8 and 2) parents and grandparents! We had an amazing time in Copenhagen, Tallinn, Helsinki and Stockholm – each tour was a bit different – tailor-made for the city and for our group- We loved each of the tour guides Eva-Maria found for us – Sophia, Triin, Susanna and Katya – each represented her city perfectly! We would highly recommend Eva-Maria’s services to other families traveling to these beautiful cities – she helped us to make the memories of a lifetime! Thanks! – Hillary, Saratoga Springs New York
